BMW CE 04
If you're in the market for an electric scooter for commuting then the BMW is a great option. It's not cheap though, but you get a distinctive looking bike, fantastic acceleration and even a reverse gear. It's limited to a top speed of 80mph which is even good enough for dual carriageway riding.
Maeving RM1
If you're looking to combine retro looks with electric power, then you the Maeving RM1 could be for you, it can even be ridden with a CBT licence. Maeving are a British company, primarily using ex-Triumph engineers. As for the bike itself it is primarily intended for urban riding, so don't expect blistering performance and or a long range (around 80 miles).
Energica Ego
The Ego comes pretty close to being an electric sportsbike. As with other electric bikes, torque is more evenly distributed than a petrol engine, so power delivery feels instant. Range is up to 120 miles, although a lot less if you ride hard. The main drawback of the Ego as a true competitor for a conventional bike is the extremely heavy weight, mainly from the battery pack.
Zero DSR/X
If you're looking for an adventure bike, there are electric versions of those too! The Zero DSR/X. The range of around 115 miles might not seem much for a day of adventure riding, but if you can afford the optional Rapid Charge Module, by the time you've taken an hour out for lunch it will have chared back to 95%.
There's a better option!
